Hey

So, after a disappointing visit to Belgrade, I decided to go back to Scotland for a few days with Alej. The main purpose of the trip was to get out of London for a bit and relax because it is non-stop in that city. I forgot what it was like to live somewhere without much sound and to have lots of your own space. The other reason was for Alej to see more of Scotland so we signed up for a couple of tourist days.

We took on the Glasgow Science Museum on Friday whilst my mum did some preparation for co-hosting the John Beattie Radio show the following day.  We went around Glasgow in the afternoon visiting various places and walked around the shops on Buchannan Street and in Merchant City.  We had lunch on byres road with one of my mum’s friend Laura who I think is probably myself and Andy’s biggest fan!  It was also nice to spend the day in the fresh air because the last few weeks I had been playing indoors.

On Saturday my Dad took us up to Loch Lomond and Crianlarich (not sure how correct that spelling is) – both really beautiful parts of Scotland.  We ate at Scotland’s number one pub for 2010 – The Inverbeg.  I made Alej try the deep fried Mars Bar - that was very very good!  Rumours that I may have eaten 99% of it are unconfirmed!

On Sunday we went through to Kilsyth to see my Grandparents on my Dad’s side.  My Grandpa was 78 a few days before so we drove through to spend time with them, as I don’t get to see them a whole lot.  I also got to catch up with a couple of my cousins and my uncle Gordon before they left to play golf. I can still take you any day Darren!

We flew home on Monday night and spent the rest of the week training with Jonny ahead of our trip to Cherbourg.  We put in a good shift and I am feeling good about my game going into this week.

I was in the physio room on Thursday getting a massage and saw a skeleton hand that they use for show along with a spine and foot.  So I took the hand and put it in my pocket and then whenever I saw someone I went to shake their hand with it while their reactions were secretely filmed. There’s some great footage flying about - not naming any names but Nigel Sears is a corker! Anyway, selected clips should be on my facebook page this week.

Disappointing gameweek in the fantasy football for me and I have probably lost too much ground now to mount a serious challenge but I’m still in there fighting for the head to head.

Big congrats to Manchester United for winning the Carling Cup.  Hopefully not the only trophy they’ll be lifting this season.

I also want to wish Aaron Ramsey a speedy recovery from his horror leg break.  Nobody likes to see that happen and I hope you recover fully and go on to be the player you’re set to become.
