Just writing to you all to wish you a very happy and successful 2010. I hope all your wishes come true!
I'm flying off to Sao Paulo esta noche con Jonny Marray as we embark on our South American adventure for the month of January. We are set to play four tournaments with a week off in between the 2nd and 3rd tournaments, which I will spend in Bogota, Colombia with my girlfriend’s family. I am really looking forward to meeting them all and it will be a nice way to spend a free week in South America.
The schedule for us is as follows:
Jan 4 – Sao Paulo, Brazil
Jan 11 – Salinas, Ecuador
Jan 18 – week off – Bogota, Colombia
Jan 25 – Bucaramanga – Colombia
Feb 1 – Santiago, Chile
We are really looking forward to getting out there and trying to give ourselves a great start to the year…Not to mention a few rays of sunshiiiiiiiiiiine!
I had a great Christmas up in Scotland with the family and my girlfriend. There was 10inches of snow and the temperature in Dunblane didn’t get above freezing in the 6 days I was there! Ale had never seen snow before so she was LOVING IT! We went sledging with my little cousins and uncles and aunt on Boxing Day and I went to see Hibs v Rangers on the 27th.
Hibs scored the fastest goal in SPL history after only twelve seconds but of course we were standing outside the ground queuing to pick up our tickets! We went on to lose 4-1 and not too many positives were to come out of the game. I don’t understand in football how a team can be playing so well as Hibs were and then how conceding a goal can totally affect a teams performance. Their heads went down and it was game over once Rangers got the second goal.
I thought it was pretty disappointing that one goal could affect a team so much. All of a sudden the Hibs fans stop singing and the rangers supporters are chanting and the whole momentum from everyone in the ground changes. Surely when your team concedes you should get behind them even more and create an even more positive energy…and the score was only 1-1!!! I could understand if it was 4-0 and they were putting in an awful performance but they were playing good until that point.
On Christmas day I woke up late and went to my dads for a few hours to spend time with him and most importantly receive my present!! I had asked for a new 3 wood for the golf bag and was pretty pumped when my dad produced the goods! I got him a new digital camera so I think we both came away pretty happy!
I then had Christmas dinner at my gran’s house with my mum’s side of the family. My little cousins were in full flow opening presents and I remembered when it was me and Andy that were the ones getting all the prezzies – happy days!
As always my gran cooked a great xmas dinner but I earned my bacon when it came to dessert time! I took down Christmas pudding and fruit salad and a whole load of sweets my mum had made. I was content!
As always I had a great time at Christmas and it was made all the more special with all the snow we had. I love being able to spend time with my family as I am away form them for most of the year with all the traveling I do and it was tough to go to the airport to fly back down to London.
