Q&A with Jamie...
15 February, 2007 | 15:02
Ed: What did he get you for Christmas?
Jamie: He got me a return flight to Australia and a video camera thing which is pretty smart.
Ed: What did you get him?
Jamie: I got him some PSP games.
Ed: Not bad…
Jamie: (laughing) I did slightly better than him!
Ed: This one’s from Jambon. He wants to know what you get up to at home in Scotland.
Jamie: Nothing major. I train a bit at the Uni, and see my friends down there. Keep it on the downlow…
Ed: What about films, going to the cinema?
Jamie: No I’m weak on that. I’m into Prison Break and Lost, all that stuff.
Ed: I’m missing Prison Break tonight for this, such is the level of my professionalism…
Jamie: Yeah but you can download it off the internet though!
Ed: Marmite, love it or hate it?
Jamie: Hate it, for sure.
Ed: Andy?
Jamie: Not sure, he definitely doesn’t eat it.
Ed: This is a good one, who would be your ideal tennis partner past or present?
Jamie: Good one….I’d like to play with Johnny Mac…
Ed: Who wouldn’t?
Jamie: Exactly.
Ed: Aside from Mac, who else?
Jamie: Bob Bryan….tough question. Purely for doubles?
Ed: Well here’s the thing, It doesn’t have to be a doubles specialist, It might be someone who doesn’t play dubs. The ultimate would be to roll out Federer I guess?
Jamie: Just to hold serve at 5 all in the third!
Ed: Xenon also wants to know what your goals are for this year.
Jamie: Hopefully to get into the top thirty, then I can play all the Masters Series and stuff, which would be big because then I can play every week on tour.
Ed: She also wants to know what you really think of the nickname chicken wings, which seems to have taken off for you.
Jamie: It’s funny because there’s an Italian guy who plays and he came out with it…
Ed: Chicken wings is a good one. I’ve been called worse in my time.
Jamie: I can imagine!
Ed: This is a question from Shaun. He wants to know why you’ve been wearing Adidas recently…
Jamie: Got an Adidas contract these days!
Ed: That’s pretty good man…getting pretty big there Jamie! What’s next, sponsored cars?
Jamie: If I get a license!
Ed: You don’t drive either?
Jamie: I’ve had lessons, but I’ve never done the test…
Ed: You and your brother are the two weakest drivers I’ve ever had the displeasure of talking to. So who’s the better driver instinctively?
Jamie: Him. I’m not very good, I don’t like it so much. I’ve been driven around all my life then suddenly to be in control of a car is a bit scary.
Ed: What’s your view on carting?
Jamie: I can do that, but the fear factor’s still there a little bit. I hold back a little bit.
Ed: How do you fancy your chances in a head-to-head battle?
Jamie: We’ve done it before, he took me down!
Ed: He fancies himself as a bit of a player on the race track…
Jamie: He’s pretty good.
