Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen!
Thought I better give you guys an update as to what's been happening in Melbourne..
As you know me and Eric lost disappointingly in the first round of the men's doubles. We didn't play a great match and were hampered by the conditions which I don't think helped our game styles.
It was a disappointing performance particularly from my side as I had been playing well in all the days leading up to the event.
All of which means I've had plenty of time to hang out since with just the one mixed match to speak of! I don't normally enjoy the hanging around part normally, but Melbourne is a pretty cool city and the great weather takes some of the edge off too! I have a few friends in the city so its been good to catch up and see them away from the tennis.
Andy lost a tough match yesterday. I don't think it was the best match he ever played, and I think he was a little flat, probably from the cold he has had for the past few days. Nonetheless, Verdasco played one of his best matches and was mentally a lot stronger than maybe a lot of people expected him to be in the fifth set..
If Andy had won that match it would have been the first time in history that the top 8 seeds had made it through to the Grand Slam quarter-finals!
I am up 4th today for mixed, after Liezel plays her doubles. They're expecting a heatwave in Melbourne over the next three days and temps are gonna be up at 40C. Good job I have that natural, deep tan to fall back on huh!
Look out for the result!
Jamie
